  The story of my exit

  i have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.

  i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .

  my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.

  mrsObfuscate & lost and adrift... so glad to have you both here, and thank Simon for having this forum, so many have found info, friends, reality and solace! After WT, there is such a need to make sense of realitu, and there are soo many people here with different expeinces that can relate.... So glad to have you here!

  I also am glad to hear that practicing JW's were able to see the hypocrisy (I have read other sites, where people make excuses) by viewing the ARC.... I have hope for relatives of mine now...

  Watchtowers policy of shunning our own close relatives

  having looked over the february' 2016 wt study article ' learn from jehovah's loyal servants' and meditating on the 'advice' from the fds aka gb regarding the shunning of our own close relatives if they have been disfellowshipped.

  the example in par 7 highlighting how a woman called anne shuns her own mother for 'as she says' cutting herself off from jehovah.

  i can't help but wonder how audacious and wreckless watchtower is in writing this stuff.

  Really?

  There are pedophiles, liars, drunkards and thieves inside the organization that get treated with welcoming hugs whilst "horrible people who do not attend 5 meetings a week, or go in service" get treated as dead.

  Thx Brock Talon, it takes some time and effort to do the research, then type the response. Without doing the research, no one can say "I know"

  I also have done the research, reading court documents from many cases, and watched the ARC videos that allow the WT reps to speak for themselves.

  When Geoffrey Jackson claimed to be a "Guardian of Doctrine," and others like him claim to 'represent the God of the Bible,' then perform as this scripture describes, they can no longer say.... they have God's approval.

  (Isaiah 59:3-4) 3 For YOUR own palms have become polluted with blood, and YOUR fingers with error. YOUR own lips have spoken falsehood. YOUR own tongue kept muttering sheer unrighteousness. 4 There is no one calling out in righteousness, and no one at all has gone to court in faithfulness.   I lived thru those days, I remember those words in the WT of 1968... I was 13:

  "Even if we presume that youngsters of 15 years of age would be perceptive enough to realize the import of what happened in 1914"

  What 13 year olds don't think sounds logical! Right?

  This is too sad, It is amazing that this boy that has been recorded can remain so calm. I hope he keeps surviving..... and so sad to hear the way this mom reasons about life.... reminds me of my sister. A very depraved JW way of thinking... wishing your children were dead rather than simply 'believing in a different way of life.' That is definitely mental abuse. I hope this boy survives, and it looks like, with the help of his older brother... he will.....

  ok, at our recent assembly, i noticed that there were quite a lot of brothers wearing beards.

  not just the older dudes, but right across a range of ages, young men, middle aged men and older men.

  is watchtower beginning to relax this rule at last?

  When 1914 is wrong, the slave is gone!

  1914 and the article the WT printed in 2011 was the tipping point for me.

  What is the most important thing about the date 1914?

  If 1914 is wrong, there cannot be any slave that was appointed in 1919.

  Just because "generations overlap" or "Jehovah is letting more people come into the truth".... or "it doesn't matter to me how long he let's this system continue".....

  When 1914 is wrong, the slave is gone.
